Privacy Policy
Information we collect
This site has no sign-up and does not collect contact details. The name shown in the village is a nickname set automatically from a random per-device ID; you don't type it in.
Server logs
For operation and security, the server may keep access logs (IP address, time of access, requested URL, and browser information).
Village connections
While you are in the village, your random per-device ID, the nickname set from that ID, your character and room colors, your current space and position, your expression, and the words you type pass through the server and are shown in real time to other visitors near you.
The server only relays these values. It does not save them to files or a database, and it clears them from memory when you leave. To limit the number of connections, it keeps the IP addresses of current visitors in memory only, for a short time, and village connections are not recorded in the access logs. The position of the ball in the café is not stored information; it goes back to its starting spot when the server restarts.
What we store in your browser
- The position of the Chapssaltteok character (sessionStorage)
- Your random per-device ID for the village, your colors, and the IDs of visitors you chose to hide (localStorage), plus a tab identifier (sessionStorage)
- Animals you photographed in the village and today's record (localStorage). These stay on this device only and are not sent to the server.
- The offline notice and copies of pages you visited (service worker storage)
- Google Analytics cookies for visit statistics
You can delete these in your browser settings. The village values pass through the server only while you are connected, as described above; nothing else is sent to the server. The visit statistics cookies are described under Visit analytics below.
YouTube videos
Thumbnail images in the ad collection load from YouTube (i.ytimg.com). When you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and from then on Google's policies apply.
Visit analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 for visit statistics. Through cookies it collects the pages you visited, your device and browser type, your approximate region, and where you came from. It does not collect your name or email.
You can block cookies in your browser settings, or turn it off with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Ads
We don't show ads right now. In the future we may use Google AdSense on news detail pages.
When AdSense is used, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings, and you can read more in Google's explanation.
